Parents
Whether you are a prospective St. Michael-St. Gabriel parent, have just become a Crusader parent, or have been one for years – welcome! This website will provide you with all the essential information about SMSG parent life.
We believe an informed, supportive family plays an instrumental role in a student’s educational achievements. To this end, the PTA and the SMSG community want you to participate in your student’s experience at SMSG. We strive to make this educational experience as positive for you as it is for your student. Newsletters are sent out via email, so please be sure the school has your current e-mail address. SMSG has an open door policy for parents. You are welcome to visit your student’s classroom at any time. Parents who have completed the Safe and Sacred training are also encouraged to coordinate with your student’s teacher to help out in the classroom and during school events.
I also encourage you to become active in the school PTA, an organization you are already a member of just by being a part of your student’s education. Meetings are held the third Sunday of every month during the school year. We sponsor many of the activities you’ll find around the school. We could really use your support with volunteering, planning events, and donating your time and talent!
And as always, please feel free to contact us at any time with questions, concerns or suggestions.
Thank you,
Before and After School Care
The Program Director and Staff would like to welcome you and your child to the Before & After Care Program at Saint Michael-Saint Gabriel Archangels Catholic School. We are pleased that you could join us. Our program is committed to the safe and exciting advancement through quality before and after school care. It is crucial that we have your support and involvement in the program to make it a success. Your involvement will show your students that they should be proud of their accomplishments and provide a boost in their self-esteem.
Hours of Operation
Before Care – 7:00 am -7:15 am (Students who arrive after 7:15 am will report directly to their classrooms.)
After Care – 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm (Due to the required deep cleaning of the school each night, we cannot offer After Care any later than this.) A late fee of $1.00 per child will be assessed for every minute late. Local law enforcement may be contacted after a waiting period of 30 minutes.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
SMSG Parent Teacher Association
Welcome to the SMSG PTA! As a parent, grandparent, guardian, or friend of the school, you are already a member! The PTA has no dues to pay or required volunteer hours. All we ask is that the SMSG Community does what it can to ensure a quality experience for our students. There are many ways to get involved!
PARENTS CONNECT GATHERINGS
Parents Connect gatherings will be held on the THIRD SUNDAY of the month in the school cafeteria at 7:00 PM from August through May. This is a chance for parents to discuss any questions/concerns they have with other parents – topics such as Homework, Peer Interactions, and more will be highlighted. We will also discuss the upcoming PTA activities. Any changes to this schedule will be sent out via e-mail and noted on the PTA Facebook page. Please join us for an hour to connect with other school parents and learn more about what is happening at SMSG.
FUNDRAISERS
SMSG PTA does not require parents to pay dues and we do our best to limit the number of fundraisers at the school. The majority of the funds raised come from our annual school Walk-A-Thon.
PTA EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
Here are just a few of the activities the SMSG PTA sponsor each year. Click on the links below to learn more about the different activities or to find out how to volunteer.
Safe Parish
On July 1, 2021, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis implemented a new program for the care and protection of our children. Safe Parish replaces the Safe and Sacred program and offers broader content and easier access to training. The training builds awareness of how to recognize and report physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect and child sexual abuse. The training is available online in English and Spanish 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. It takes about 45 minutes to complete and can be done in parts.
Purpose of New Program
The Safe Parish program was chosen for several reasons. It provides easier access to child protection training for clergy, employees, and volunteers. It allows us to broaden the focus of the training to increase awareness of all forms of child abuse. And Safe Parish includes an assessment that must be taken and passed to ensure that training content is learned and can be applied. We believe these are important new features for this program.
Access
The Safe Parish link takes you to the home page where you will register by providing your email address and choosing a password. You’ll then be able to view the website and complete the training. Since this new program was launched, we have received great feedback on the convenience and education it provides our employees and volunteers. We are pleased to have this new resource for our continued commitment to the care and protection of our community.
Thank you in advance for participating in this training.
Uniform & Dress Code
Uniforms are required Monday through Friday. Students who are on campus during school hours, including before care and aftercare, must follow the SMSG Day School dress code unless otherwise directed. Please note that a uniform infraction may necessitate a call to the parents who will be asked to bring the proper uniform garment(s) to school. This also includes the correct shoes listed in the uniform requirements. The school reserves the right to tell students when their dress does not adhere to the dress code. Download the Dress Code.
Weekly Newsletter
The SMSG Weekly Newsletter is usually sent out on Mondays and includes information from the principal, event information and reminders, the month at a glance, and lunch calendar. To submit a newsletter item, or to start receiving the newsletter, please contact Mrs. Ramos at lramos@indyarchangel.org.
